Kanta the Kitsune is illustrator Lili Chin's interpretation of the nine-tailed yokai. Both messenger of the gods and shape-shifting trickster, the fox plays many roles in Japanese folklore. They can create complex illusions and disguise themselves so well that they marry a human man and bear children. With kitsune around, it's no wonder traditional Japanese marriages required an in-depth background check.
